Recent cuts to the Board of Education have significantly decimated the quality of our school system and have had a drastic impact on the services we provide to our students. The Democratic team is committed to restoring key support staff, sports programs as well as lowering class sizes in Enfield Schools. We aim to accomplish this through a methodically focused plan over the next few years to sustainably restore full funding to Enfield Public Schools.
The Democratic team is committed to restoring the recently cut senior volunteer tax credit program, and the senior minor home repair program, both of which provided vital support to aid our seniors in their cost-of-living challenges in Enfield. The democratic team is committed to ensuring seniors have the opportunity to age in place in their homes and thrive in a vibrant community where they have accelerated access to transportation and recreational opportunities.
The Democratic team supports fully funding our police and providing the needed resources when recommended by our law enforcement leadership. Not deferring the resource recommendations by our exemplary law enforcement personnel to meet political promises during budget time.
Recent cuts and delayed funding have hindered the ability of our law enforcement to ensure a safe community by failing to fund requested police infrastructure such as vehicles, radios, audiovisual equipment when requested by the Chief of Police during budget cycles and deferring critical investments.
The Democratic team does not support outsourcing key services that residents rely on for short-term savings that ultimately turn into long-term costs for taxpayers. Proposals such privatization of trash collection or recreational programs may result in short term savings, but lead to long term costs fees and less accountability once private corporations control them outside the Town Council’s oversight.
At the same time, we also recognize that further savings for families come from smart investments today that prevent bigger costs developing tomorrow. That means investing in humanities, education, and enrichment programs that give our children and families the tools to succeed in their community. Investing in community services and resources will reduce long-term burdens on families. By strengthening people and neighborhoods up front, we avoid the hidden costs of neglect, inefficiency, and crisis response later on.
Lastly, we are committed to exploring all options within our power to ensure the efficiency of services and savings for taxpayers in-house.
The Democratic team fully supports investing in our critical infrastructure such as repairing our dilapidated elementary schools, continuing to follow through on scheduled road maintenance, pursuing redevelopment opportunities in underutilized areas, fully enforcing blight regulations, beautifying town-owned property, and incorporating community buy-in on town-supported projects.

With multiple generations calling Enfield home, Aaron Thomas split time growing up in Western Massachusetts, as well as Enfield, Connecticut, moving back full time in 2011. Growing up on Pearl Street, Aaron elicits memories, spending time running back and forth between the Pearl Street Library, having dinner at the Old Country Buffet, and heading over to what was then Funcoland to check out the latest video game release. Aaron graduated from Ludlow (MA) High School and attended Holyoke Community College studying liberal arts. Later, he enrolled at NERI to earn his certification and officially began his career as a Realtor.
Aaron believes that Enfield is an excellent place to raise a family. Hence why he and his partner, Amanda, have raised their daughter, Abigail, through the Enfield School system, having graduated this past year in the class of 2025. During his daughter's high school career, she was a part of the EHS Lamplighters (theater program) which opened up an amazing opportunity to be able to support the arts. In addition to having a daughter, Aaron has two young nephews who also attend Enfield Schools. One being a middle schooler at JFK and one going into 5th Grade at Prudence Crandall Elementary School. He wholeheartedly believes that investing time and energy in all our schools will make Enfield a place that future generations will want to live.
Aaron has always advocated that affordability and community in Enfield are what make this town a wonderful place to live. He acted as the assistant coach of his daughter's 4th & 5th grade recreational soccer team, even becoming the interim head coach for a season in 2017-18. Starting in 2021, Aaron's home has become a meeting ground on Halloween for all ages to feel welcomed. Where many friends, family and neighborhood communities congregate. From sharing laughs and trading candy to making it onto the Enfield Patch, it was a time to remember!
Aaron champions the belief that a focus on education, community, and transparency from our elected officials will ensure Enfield remains a place we can all call home. By emphasizing the importance of supporting both our older and younger generations, while also nurturing the upkeep of our parks, local businesses, town events, and restaurants, Aaron shows that these are the key elements that truly define Enfield.

Zach Zannoni is a fifth generation Enfield resident, a graduate of Enfield High School, and the University of Connecticut, and an educator. A longtime volunteer in Enfield, Zach serves as Assistant Director of his family’s charity, Cans for Kids, is a member of the Enfield Charter Revision Commission, a former Town Constable, and volunteers for numerous other organizations and events throughout the year.
Growing up in a farming family and having worked on his family’s farm, Zach is deeply dedicated to preserving open space and strengthening Enfield’s agricultural heritage. As a member of a generation often priced out of the housing market, he is a strong proponent of fiscally responsible policies that ensure Enfield’s taxes remain affordable for working-class families. He supports development that prioritizes affordability and sustainability over profits for large developers.
Having recently graduated from the state’s top school of education and working as an educator for the past five years, Zach understands the serious challenges facing the Enfield school system. He believes strongly in prioritizing funding to lower class sizes and restore support staff to their vital roles, ensuring no child’s needs go unmet.
Zach lives on Raffia Road, having just moved into his family’s original farmhouse at Raffia Farms that they’ve had since the early 1900s. Outside of politics and volunteering, Zach is an active communicant of St. Jeanne Jugan Parish here in Enfield, loves to travel, visit new restaurants, and help out on his family’s farm.
